Reaching out to the society at large through extensive CSR initiatives in the areas of education, health, infrastructure development, water management and sustainable livelihoods.

SPL is steadfast on Electrosteel Group's belief that a large extent of its business is dependent on the Society for its growth and prosperity.

The Company has been doing extensive work for the upliftment of villages around its area of operation near Srikalahasthi in the Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh.

Education
SPL supports education of children across nearby villages

At SPL, we believe that education is one of the key indicators of social progress and it plays a decisive role in achieving development. SPL carries out a host of activities in the area of Education including -

  • Supporting schools located in the identified areas
  • Sponsoring 'Vidya Volunteers' in government schools. These Vidya Volunteers are qualified young boys and girls who support the schools and students by imparting quality education.
  • By supporting 'Vidya Volunteers', SPL gives an opportunity to young boys and girls in getting employment and also help them become employable.
  • By fulfilling various needs of the schools such as providing laboratory equipment, utensils for mid-day meals etc.
  • Periodically conducting awareness towards the environment by conducting competitions on important days and several other occasions.
Health
Medical Camp - Challapalem BC Colony

As part of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), SPL organizes medical camps in the nearby villages to cater to the health needs of the people in the villages. These health camps especially focus on women. 12 medical camps are organized every year. During the medical camps one surgeon, one cardiologist and a gynaecologist are participating and treating the villagers besides giving them advice for further treatment, wherever necessary.

During the medical camp, medicines are distributed to the villagers free of cost besides providing fruits, milk etc. on the camp day. In each medical camp, nearly 250 to 300 villagers with health complaints are attending and receiving treatment from Specialized Doctors.

Awareness around women's health and hygiene is also spread along with free medicine distribution besides providing fruits, milk etc., on the camp day.

Infrastructure Development

SPL has been continuously contributing in the area of infrastructure development in neighbouring villages with initiatives such as -

  • Construction of village's internal roads.
  • Sewage water management system in the villages.
  • Installation of street lights.
  • Providing clean potable groundwater to neighboring villages.
  • As part of infrastructure development in villages, the company provides R.O Plants to provide clean drinking water.
Water Resource and Environment Management
R.O. Plants to provide clean drinking water to nearby villages

The Company's water project in Andhra Pradesh is one of the unique Sewage Water Reclamation Projects in the State. SPL, by using its own product and pipe laying skills, has laid pipeline from Thukkiwakkam (near Tirupati) to the Plant situated near Srikalahasthi covering a distance of 20 km. This project fulfils twin objectives - environmental protection by conserving water and improving water table as well as meeting the water requirement of future projects.

SPL has supported the adjacent village in water management by providing pump sets and never before the villagers could store so much of water at present which will meet the requirement of two crops a year in 100 Acres of land. The farmers are immensely benefited by this initiative.

As part of infrastructure development in villages the company provides R.O Plants to provide clean drinking water.

Sustainable Livelihoods
Skill Development - Computer Training

SPL has started skill development centres to enhance the skill of rural women in Tailoring, Embroidery besides providing computer operating skills.

Animal Welfare
Animal shelter

SPL maintains shelters for cows near its plant. This shelter is meant for injured and abandoned cows. There are about 400 animals taken care in the Company's cow shelter. Green grass cultivation is done to meet the fodder requirement of the destitute cows.
